The Pizza Mystery

The Pizza Mystery
I love pizza. But anyways on to the review. When someone tries to close down Piccolo's Pizzeria, the Boxcar Children come to the aid of their old friends, Mr. and Mrs. Piccolo, and come up for ideas for mini pizzas, a delivery service, and special coupons. Simultaneous. The boxcar children wonder is someon is deliberately trying to shut down the pizza paler. Are they right?

I agree one of the best!
I agree that this is the best Boxcar Children book. And once again the Alden Children find themselves on another mystery. And this one is not the same from others. As the book begins, the Aldens and Grandfather Alden find out that thier favorite pizza place is in trouble (that nobody can figure out why).

The Aldens has decide to end thier trip that they have been on. But taking a trip to the pizza place. On the way they meet the manger of the nextdoor factory called The Mighty Mufflers. His name is Maxwell Irons. Right before they had off to Piccolo's Pizza (the name of thier favorite pizza place).

But when they arrive they seem to can't find the pizza place because a billboard is in front of the sign and the pizza place. They can't find a place to park, but they do, but they can't park there because it's for truck only. It is the loading parking space.

The Piccolos has had trouble with thier oven. The gasline has been messed up. They had two waiters leave. And sometimes the Piccolos sometimes do not open up at all. The Alden Children decide to stay back and help out the Piccolos. Mr. And Mrs. Piccolos agree to this.

And soon the Aldens and the Piccolos has more trouble. Somebody has caused a blackout and printed up coupons for kids 12 and under to have them buy a slice of pizza and get free pop. But can the Aldends save the pizza place?

The best Boxcar Children Book!
This is one I remember from my childhood, and I have to protest I beleive it is the best Boxcar Childrens book made! The plop is VERY grabbing and interesting - and of course the thought of pizza makes you HUNGRY sometimes. The book is so well written, and will keep your attention so much that you can even smell the ingredients that the Piccolo family (the owners of the Pizzeria) are using.

The Poetry of William Butler Yeats

beautiful
The variety of readers makes Yeats poetry come to life. If you like to chill in the car, this one is for you.

For those who've forgotten they are Irish
It is impossible to say who of the tremendous artists on this recording does the greatest honor to Yeats' words and intentions. Let us merely say it is the sort of contest which only the listener wins, especially if he or she has even one Emerald Isle gene in his or her make-up.

Lyrical
This is a wonderful collection of poetry. The readers contribute so much emotion to their reading. The listener can hear the music of Ireland in each voice. Every time I listen to this, I hear something new. Some of the poems included are: Stolen Child; The Indian to his Love; The Cloak, the Boat and the Shoes and The Sad Shepherd. This has brought many hours of relaxation and beauty to my evenings. I highly recommend this tape.

Private Lily
Published in Hardcover by Knopf (July, 1998)
Authors: Sally Warner and Jacqueline Rogers
Average review score:

Lily is very real
I have read both Private Lily and Sweet & Sour Lily to my girls, ages 7 and 5. They both love Lily because she sounds like them, she's between their ages, and she speaks and thinks just like them. The books are easy to read and short enough to finish in a few nights. Good!

Private Lily
Have you ever wanted your own room? Well, if
you had or not, read Private Lily By Sally Warner.
It is a book that will make you laugh and make you
think hard.
I would recommend this book to someone who
wants their own room. It will help you get some
privacy.
This book shows that you can get your own
room. If you work for it.

Puerto Rico's Fighting 65th U.S. Infantry: From San Juan to Chorwan
Published in Hardcover by Presidio Pr (September, 1901)
Author: William Warner, Harris
Average review score:

Great Book!
As a descendant of one of the heroes of 65th Infantry, I was intrigued on how one of their former Commanding Officers would portray them. General Harris (then Colonel) did not wish to command this outfit and he resented his appointment, then unfairly known as a laid back, disorganized, backwater posting. He tells us how these men changed his outlook from day one of assuming command. These brave men, although barely two platoons strong when he assumed command, held off the best Division that the U.S. Army had to offer on training maneuvers, and the best the North Koreans and the Chinese had during the Korean War. When asked point blank if the puertorricans would fight when the time came, Colonel Harris' answer was just as direct: "My puertorricans will fight anyone, anywhere." They did not dissapoint their CO, becoming the most decorated Batallion of the Korean War. One can only wonder why this Batallion was rarely ever used during World War II.

The book has a few historical errors, all of them regarding Puerto Rico and its culture, and the narrative is sometimes repetitive. That is why I did not rate it as a 5 star book. But overall, it is an excellent military history narrative on one of the most decorated fighting units in the U.S. Army and the only Batallion to be transferred from the U.S. Army onto a National Guard when the time came to deactivate it. These men, along with every other war time hero, deserve our eternal thanks and our admiration for sacrificing their youth in order to preserve Freedom and Democracy.

Fighting 65th
This is a great book about an outstanding unit. As a "Boricua" i am proud of the deeds of the 65th, they demonstrated what they were made off and never let us down.
On another note the 65th was not a battalion but a Regiment composed of serveral battalions(just a correction to a previous review).

Boricuas
This book exemplifies the spirit of the Puerto Rican soldier. Always willing to give their biggest effort in order to get the job done. It showed the valor and courage of this men. Is a book that every Puerto Rican serving in the Armed Forces should read and feel proud of the men before them.

Spectral Analysis of Time-Series Data
Published in Hardcover by Guilford Press (22 May, 1998)
Author: Rebecca Warner
Average review score:

An excellent manual for those ignoring everything about spec
I think this book is extremely simple. The only knowledge required to understand it is perhaps Ordinary Least Squares. A theoretical explanation of the spectral analysis is not in the book. There is only a brief comment on De moivre's theorem (the one allowing and sustaining the whole spectral analysis) in a footnote. The main purpose of the author is to deliver an empirical methodology for empirical researchers not interested in the theories. The advantage is that, once you see such empirical applications, you understand the underlying idea of spectral Analysis. The elementary examples are very illuminating. The book is well organized and the review of "de-trending" (on this particular subject, I would like to say that the scientific discussion has evolved a lot in the last 20 years and the author's presentation is a little bit old), "harmonic analysis", "periodogrammes" seems pretty coherent. Perhaps the only drawback is that the text is a little repetitive and thus, slightly boring; but this is a minor problem, if you consider that this style will make more solids the understanding of the fundamental concepts. It's a great introduction to spectral analysis. Students having standard mathematical knowledge should begin here and then start reading more technical works, such as Bloomfied's "Fourier Analysis of Time Series" and the chapter of spectral analysis of Hamilton's "Analysis of Time Series".

Novices Should Start Here
If you haven't got a clue about spectral analysis, this is the ideal place to start exploring the frequency domain. Although the examples are from psychological studies, this is not a reason why an economist shouldn't read it!!!

exceptionally clear
No one writes more clearly than Rebecca Warner. If you want to understand spectral analysis, she will help you. If you want to *do* spectral analysis, read this book first. It might be the only one you need.

The Yellow House Mystery
Published in School & Library Binding by Albert Whitman & Co (October, 1987)
Author: Gertrude Chandler Warner
Average review score:

Great mystery for children
This was the first real mystery story I ever read, when I was about eight or nine years old, and I madly adored it, except that for some reason the part about the grating brick freaked me out. It has never scared any other child I know who read the book, but for some reason after reading that I couldn't go to sleep for a long time many nights! It really is a well-thought-out mystery - I always thought it was, but after it scared me I didn't dare to read it again for years!

But last week I read it again, and enjoyed it very much again. Of course nothing is as exciting to the adult mind in such a book as it is to a child, but I can still see the appeal in the story and get pleasure from reading it all the same.

Basically the story is... Grandfather's "Surprise Island" has a little yellow house on it. The children sense there is a mystery about it, so they ask Grandfather to tell them about it. He says that a man named Bill lived there with his wife. He disappeared one day, presumably with a large amount of money, and no one was ever able to find where he went. But the Boxcar children are always ready for a challenge and they set off to look for Bill.

Excellent story that all boys and girls should read or have read to them.

I have never forgotten the book, neither will my kids.
When I was a child, I had a very hard time concentrating on reading. That was untill my mom entroduced me to the Box car children. I have never forgotten about those kids. It is my favorite child hood story. I always wished that I had have my own box car to go to. I think it the best fantasy land any child could ever enter.

I liked the plot in this story.
I liked the part when Benny found a box of money when he was playing with a frog.I also liked the part when the four childern's grandfather told them a story about when he was a boy.

A Fun Book for Football Kids
When my son and his friend sat down to this book, I couldn't tear it away from them! They kept looking at the vivid pictures and reading over and over the text. They were really transfixed. I can't say how quiet the house was for about a half of an hour. They loved it!

Wow!
Wow! It was interesting and exciting with lots of neat facts. Amazing to throw 5 TD passes in one game. Did not know that you could play 2 sports at a time in HighSchool.

same thing
W A R N I N G:
This comic book is exactally like the book Aliens vs. predator: Prey. I recommend that you read the novel before the comic, or you will not understand a lot of it. I liked the book much more than the comic because there is more detail and a better understanding. read the book first folks!

Great
This comic is awesome. It has Aliens, Predators, humans, and guns. Chestburster action also. The movie is set way in the future. The predators have now captured Alien Queens so she can make eggs. Then, the Predators put the eggs in an area on a planet where there's life that can get impregnated by the Face Huggers. Then, the predators go and hunt the Aliens. But, something goes wrong on one of these trips. The ship carrying the eggs explodes, the Aliens are let on the loose, they invade a humanized colony, bad stuff happens, people die, The main protagonist who happens to be a Predator is introduced, and stuff happens. Awesome comic, and a must have.

Teach Yourself VISUALLY Dreamweaver MX
Published in Paperback by Visual (19 August, 2002)
Authors: Ivonne Berkowitz and Janine Warner
Average review score:

Beautiful but not what I wanted...
This is certainly a visually beautiful book. And, for many people new to Dreamweaver, it might be exactly what they're looking for. Unfortunately, it's not what I am looking for. For example, there are beautiful illustrations of website home pages throughout the book. What I would have liked to have seen is how to create THOSE websites step-by-step. How do you create those attractive banners? How do you create those entire-page-backgrounds? What I want is a book that visually shows me beautiful websites, then shows me how to create them...from basic index.html page and interesting graphics incorporated onto the page, to linked pages, animations (flash) etc. This book just doesn't do it.

Teach Yourself Visually Dreamweaver Mx
This book is excellent for a quickstart using an unknown program.
Also, very good as a reference document when one gets a little rusty.

Removed the fear of creating web site
At first, I was excited when ask to create a web site for my company. After reading my first HTML book, that excitement was soon replaced by fear. My company had provided site creation software but I was dumbfounded about where to start. Most of the books I had bought were too advanced for me and I began to think I just couldn't do this web site thing.

That was until I discovered this book. It was a good starting off point, visually showing the steps to start creating basic web pages. One week after receiving this book, I had created a web site.

Most books are intended to help the reader master the program, this book had just enough information to help me learn the program. Although I now need to purchase another book to help master Dreamweaver, this book still deserves five stars because I would have never been able to learn Dreamweaver without it.

my review
This book was easy and fun to read!I reccomend it to any person or child!

My Daughter Thinks this is Pretty Good
My daughter told me about this book and how she thinks it deserves "4 stars". She said that this book was about the Aldens (also known as the Boxcar Children) and how they get new neighbors. They make friends with the neighbors and start to build a treehouse. They discover something mysterious while looking out of the treehouse. She wants me to read the book to find out what happens. The book didn't deserve a five-star rating because she found it not to be as exciting as she hoped it would be.

one of the best boks have ever read
The Boxcar Children and the Mystery of the Tree House was a very good book to read. When the Boxcar Children get new neighbors they help them build a tree house. The neighbors have insisted on getting a spy glass for the tree house. When they find the missing spy glass they look through it and find a mysterious room from the people that were there before them. Read this book when you get the chance to you'll love it.
